  • Program Coordinator - will plan and implement activities and workshops for new, incoming students attending this summer bridge. The coordinator will lead and participate in several preparations and staff training in order to help us achieve the program’s goals and objectives and to make this learning experience successful for all participants.

  • Peer Mentors (Residential Advisors) - A peer mentor is a friend who takes a special interest in sharing information with other students to inspire and help them approach their academic studies with more confidence. Peer mentors will provide advice, support, and encouragement to new, incoming students. Our aim is for a staff of about 4 peer mentors, each mentoring 4-5 new students who will be incoming freshmen during this summer bridge.

  • Clerical/Activities Assistant - will provide administrative, clerical, and operational support as directed by the program coordinator and directors. This assistant will accurately follow oral and written instructions and perform a variety of duties in a timely manner—sometimes working independently and exercising initiative. Our aim is for one assistant who has strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and data base programs, and is able to lift and/or carry heavy items (>20 lbs).

  • UNIX, Tech Tools & Game Design Workshop Leaders - will lead basic skills introductions and exercises for specific workshops (Intro to Unix with instruction on file systems, Tech Tools, and/or Game Design). Workshop leaders will conduct 1.5 to 2 hour introductory sessions and prepare sets of effective handouts. Our aim is for about 4 workshop leaders based on our program’s needs.

INTEREST IN VOLUNTEER ROLES - pdf

  • BSoE Student Panelists (Undergrad/Grad) - Discuss experiences and BSoE studies at UCSC.
  • Research/Course Project Presenters - display BSoE research work or course projects.
  • BSoE Lab Tour Hosts - lead tours and describe the labs and other facilities details.
  • BSoE Student Organization Reps - hosting information table to describe activities & membership.
